Born from the hills, rooted in Coimbatore
Founded in 1976, the Covai Badagar Jana Sangam has been the heartbeat of the Badaga community in Coimbatore for nearly five decades.
The Badaga community has long made Coimbatore — the city at the foot of the Blue Mountains — a second home. Many families came down from the Nilgiri Hills seeking education, trade, and opportunity, yet carried with them an unbreakable thread of identity.
The Covai Badagar Jana Sangam was founded to gather those threads. To create a space where the language could be spoken freely, where festivals could be celebrated with full heart, where the elderly could find kinship and the young could find roots.
Today, the Sangam serves hundreds of families across Coimbatore — organizing cultural programs, providing community welfare, connecting Badaga youth with their heritage, and standing as a dignified institution that every member can call home.
